Berry Sauce

  • 1 pint berries
  • 1/3 cup sugar (may use less, depending on the type/sweetness of the berries you're using)
  • 1 tsp almond or vanilla extract
Combine in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer. Cook 5 minutes. If you don't like chunks of fruit, let the sauce cool significantly before transferring to blender; pulse until it reaches the desired consistency.

We've tried blackberry sauce with vanilla extract, and strawberry sauce with almond extract. Both were fabulous! This may also work with fresh, peeled peaches, which I will be trying when the peaches are ripe this summer. MMMMMM...

But where do you put the sauce? On ice cream? Cake? Pancakes?
